    Equality Objectives

At Veritas Primary Academy, we are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive and ambitious school community where every child is valued, supported and inspired to achieve their very best. Our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion is underpinned by our core values of Safe, Ownership, Aspiration and Respect (SOAR). These values shape our culture, inform our decision-making and guide how we support every member of our school community.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background, circumstances or individual needs. We are committed to eliminating discrimination, advancing equality of opportunity and fostering positive relationships between people from different backgrounds and experiences.

At Veritas, we strive to ensure that all pupils can access a high-quality education, a broad and engaging curriculum, and the wider opportunities that help them develop confidence, character and ambition. We actively identify and remove barriers to learning and participation, ensuring that every child is supported to flourish both within and beyond the classroom.

We celebrate the diversity of our school and wider community and promote respect, kindness and understanding through our curriculum, assemblies and wider school experiences. We encourage our pupils to value themselves, others and the world around them, helping them develop into responsible, respectful citizens who contribute positively to society.

As an employer, we are committed to equality of opportunity and seek to ensure that recruitment, training, development and promotion processes are fair, transparent and inclusive.

Our governors regularly review the school's compliance with the Equality Act 2010 and Public Sector Equality Duty and monitor progress towards our equality objectives.

    Our Objectives 2026 - 2030

    SAFE

Objective: To ensure that all members of the school community feel safe, valued and included, and that discriminatory, prejudicial or bullying behaviour is addressed promptly and effectively.

    Success Measures:

    • All incidents of discriminatory or prejudice-related behaviour are recorded, investigated and addressed in line with school procedures.
    • Incidents and trends are monitored and reviewed termly by school leaders.
    • Pupils are taught how to report concerns and access support when needed.
    • Equality, diversity and inclusion are promoted through assemblies, curriculum opportunities and wider school experiences.

    OWNERSHIP

Objective: To identify and remove barriers to learning and participation so that all pupils can engage fully in school life and achieve success.

    Success Measures:

    • Appropriate support and reasonable adjustments are implemented and reviewed for pupils who require them.
    • Participation in clubs, educational visits, enrichment activities and leadership opportunities is monitored termly.
    • Where barriers to participation are identified, actions are implemented to improve access and engagement.
    • Communication with families is accessible and responsive to individual needs where required.

    ASPIRATION

Objective: To ensure that all pupils, regardless of background, need or circumstance, have equitable access to opportunities and are supported to achieve their full potential.

    Success Measures:

    • Attainment, progress, attendance and participation data for different groups of pupils is analysed at least termly.
    • Targeted support is implemented where gaps or barriers are identified.
    • The impact of interventions is reviewed regularly by leaders.
    • All pupils have access to a range of enrichment opportunities and wider curriculum experiences during their time at Veritas.

    RESPECT

Objective: To promote understanding, respect and appreciation of diversity, preparing pupils to become responsible and respectful members of modern Britain.

    Success Measures:

    • Equality, diversity and protected characteristics are reflected within the curriculum across all year groups.
    • Pupils are provided with opportunities to learn about different cultures, faiths, backgrounds and experiences.
    • Pupil voice demonstrates an understanding of respect, inclusion and equality.
    • Governors receive an annual review of progress against the school's equality objectives

Through our commitment to SOAR, we will continue to create a school where every child feels safe, takes ownership, aspires to achieve their best and shows respect for themselves, others and the world around them.
