    Safeguarding

The welfare and safety of children is everyone’s responsibility

Parents/carers and visitors coming on to our school premises have a duty of care towards the welfare and safety of the children at Veritas Primary Academy.

    What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

    Safeguarding means:

    • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
    • preventing harm to children’s health or development
    • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
    • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Child protection is part of the safeguarding process. It focuses on protecting individual children identified as suffering or likely to suffer significant harm. This includes child protection procedures which detail how to respond to concerns about a child.

Anyone who joins our school will be expected to share this commitment and should any concerns arise, be proactive in following procedures and seeking advice from appropriate agencies as outlined in our safeguarding policy.

    Our Processes

At Veritas Primary Academy we will take any concerns seriously and deal with them appropriately. If you have any concerns about a child in our school, please contact a member of the safeguarding team above.

Parents and Carers can be confident that we have robust procedures in place to ensure all children in our care are protected from harm. We strive to ensure that both children and adults feel that school is a safe space, they are able to speak freely about their concerns and that they are listened to.

Have you got a serious concern about the safety of a child or young person up to the age of 18?

Do you think a child or young person is being harmed or is at risk of being harmed?

Are you worried that a child is living in circumstances where they are treated badly and not cared for properly?
