Computing is taught progressively across the school using the Kapow Primary Computing scheme, ensuring that children develop the knowledge and skills needed to become confident, creative and responsible users of technology.
Across the primary phase, pupils develop their understanding through the three key areas of computer science, information technology and digital literacy. Children learn to create and debug programs, understand how computer systems and networks work, collect and interpret data, and use a range of digital tools to create and communicate content. They also develop an understanding of how technology is used in the wider world.
Online safety is embedded throughout the curriculum, helping pupils learn how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly. Learning is carefully sequenced so that knowledge and skills are revisited and built upon as children progress through the school, preparing them for the next stage of their education.
